Jessica Abbott Williams is a graduate of the ceramics program of the California College for the Arts where she also studied painting, drawing and poetry. She has created public art mosaic projects and large scale paintings for San Diego Children’s Hospital and Highland Hospital in Oakland, in some cases collaborating on those projects with local school children. Since 1998 she has owned and operated a community art studio in Berkeley, California called Brushstrokes, where 7 days a week, adults and children can come in and work with ceramics, glass and mosaics on a drop in basis, or take a class in a variety of arts and crafts media. She also has a production line of ceramics which has been sold at the Museum of Modern Art Gift Store, the Palo Alto Museum Gift Shop and the Gardener in Berkeley. Jessica’s art making process connects community, poetry and a reverence for the beauty of nature.
